Default ? for trans am owners

I know alot of people have cut out sections and enlarged the holes that air travels through the hood (the section right above where the hook for the closing latch attaches) but my question is how much can you safely remove before you risk breaking your hood?

What some people remove is not anything that would "break" your hood. They are removing one or two of the baffles that are in the hood. There are two - a front one and a rear one. By removing the baffles you greatly increase the airflow and force and speed of the air coming in. If you have a car that sits in the garage until a nice day and it's never out in the rain you're O.K. If you drive your car in the rain you will have big problems - you'll be sucking in air and water. The baffles keep the rain out.

I may have given you wrong info. I was thinking you were talking about a WS6 hood, but I don't see it in your signature now that I look Sorry

You are not going to break your hood by cutting the metal out. On mine I cut out two openings behind each opening in the front. Then on the back side, I opened it up all the way across. It didn't effect the strength of the latch area at all. I don't think I would remove one large opening in the front though. The piece you end up leaving in the middle helps give it strength. Nineball has some pictures of his setup if you page/email him. Hope this helps you some.
