Thanks John......Hypothetically, how much would a set of FBod headers go for, provided they were coated and had a corresponding Y-pipe? I like the Hookers, but as far as overall build quality, coupled with the poor Y-pipe design and execution (no flames Hooker owners). I'd be willing to spend more $$$ to get a well crafted, header and Y-pipe that produce 1-4hp more.......I'm just curious about the ballpark figure. Less than FLP's, Grott's, or TTS?

Thanks for your time John. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Diesel, I am no expert in this field but my educated guess would be that you tend to loose the power gained by a better header design if you are going through a "Y" pipe to single exhaust. Since you are after the "ultimate" street exhaust system which by definition means least backpressure and most scavaging you really need true duals using an "X" pipe, not single exhaust. If the "Y" pipe was the hot set-up, then you'd see the class racers using them. The only reason GM uses them is cost.

Back to your question on header cost, I believe that you would have to pay the going shop labor rate to have someone do this for you and at $30+/hr., this could get reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal expensive for only a potential few HP gain. The money would really be better spent elsewhere.

My main motivation here building these headers was that since nothing long tube is currently offered that would fit my car without massive rework that it wasn't anymore expensive for me to build exactly what I wanted incorporating all of the latest technology whether proven or not. I don't think I'll see much gains until my S2 heads go on and then I expect big gains (hopefully!).

Personally if you don't like the Hookers, take a look at the other offering from FLP, Grot or even SLP (these are the only equal length F-body ones available that I am aware of even though they are not stepped).

Good luck!
