It would have to help some plus the weight savings if your removing the Y, I , and catback. That should be worth half of a tenth easy. I haven't done it yet , but I will when the weather cools down a bit so let us know if you do get good results. TIA.
dual cutouts are cheap and super easy to have done. it is also easy to open and close the cutouts off the headers sine they are so close to the doors.
I have my whole exhaust down now waiting on my stuff for the true duals, I drove around last night for about 10 mins. I could not keep the car running. I lost all low end and it sucks! But once it gets to above 3500 RPM, than hold on, it takes off. It just take a few to get it there.
I wouldnt try it.

Open headers with 12" extensions is the way to go. I cut my 3" y-pipe 12" back and welded on flanges. And the catback is flanged just before it goes over the rearend. Exaust comes off in just a few minutes. And I save 50lbs.

The open exhaust debate has been going on around here for awhile. I'll just tell you my findings...
Going from 2 3" 1-chamber Flowmaster race mufflers to open headers (the mufflers/pipes are really short and come off with three bolts total) would net me a gain of .07-.08 sec and ~1mph on my last engine.

Well as soon as I get a new fuel pump(new one on back order for 2-3 weeks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> )I will try her out without the Y and catback...I need to figure out a way to make the system removable with out having to drop the rearend <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
