Went into the archives, found that maf ends reduce line pressure in A4's. Yet, I see alot of guys on this site use Whisper Maf ends with their A4 cars. I have a 99 Z28 3.23 A4, was wondering how best to get around the low line pressure. I would prefer not using a shift kit because the last time I had one installed(94 vette) it took two kits and two attempts to get it done right. And that was by a supposedly nationally renowned racing trans/converter builder in my area. I see that John Brown has installed maf ends on both his A4 equipped LS1's. I see RK sports has a trans line adapter(interceptor). Thanks for any help/ideas.
The only converter that seems to hate MAF ends is the ST3500, at least that I've seen. I get a bad shudder after lock up around 40-45mph, which is very noticeable at part/slight throttle.
I've had this problem for a while now and even went back to stock ends with no luck, I've even tried products recommended by Mike that are supposed to prevent/eliminate shutter ( http://lubegard.com/ ), but the shutter remained. My Scanmaster even picks up, up to 7 degrees of false knock while the shutter occurs!
I talked to Mike about sending the converter back for inspection. He has no problem with me doing so, but I'll just have to come out of my own pocket to have the TC removed, which IMO think is garbage . Not to mention shipping costs and catching a bus for a few days.
Please excuse my venting, I’m just fed up!
