Pulling the EGR is easy as can be, you unplug the pump, and un bolt it from everything. Rip the thing out. Get or manufacter an EGR blockoff plate for your header attachment then run down to home depot and buy a rubber plug that fits the hole in the intake manifold.

Re: EGR...trash can time
Is it really that simple?
Wow-- I'm thinking this sounds like a good idea <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />
What are the downsides to eliminating the thing?
Thanks

Re: EGR...trash can time
I got rid of my egr and air pump when I put on my ls6 intake and just had the stock cam for several months..advantages..gets rid of ugly egr junk and almost certain source of vacuum leaks not to mention that dumb as heck o ring design on the egr..way to go GM!!!! And since we have no emissions testing here so far also put my entire air pump system in a box..disadvantages of the above..none that I can see but you will get ses lights for egr and I think air pump.I don't pay much attention to my ses lights since I have an autotap and scanmaster and can monitor them at any time..

Re: EGR...trash can time
This was a pretty easy "mod". I built my own block off plates in about an hour, but I had access to a drill press and a bench grinder. I used some 1/8 inch (maybe a tad thicker)scrap metal.
If you cant find a plug right away just cut the tube going into the EGR hole on the intake about 6 or 7 inches away from it. Take a hammer and flatten about 1inch of it right at the point where you cut it. Fold the flattened part over and hammer it flat again. Do that a couple times and it works fine, probably has a tighter seal that the factory stuff. Getting the pump out was easy. 4 10mm bolts and one wire harness to unhook and the air pump drops right out. There will be another small cylinder that is mounted to same braket as the pump. If I remember right it was 1 10m bolt and that came out also.
As far as gains.....I dont think its worth the time to mention other than the wieght savings.

Re: EGR...trash can time
Operation BYE BYE EGR starts this saturday. I will post up what happened and what to look out for. I feel stupid for spending 20 bucks for the block off plates, but that is a drop in the bucket compared to everything else I have done and am doing to this car.
