Default valve covers, can they be......

welded? or are they made of some wierd metal? I would like to weld a pcv bung on the drivers side , at the front of the valve cover and cap off all the fittings at the rear of the valve cover.Wouldnt this eliminate most of the ls1 pcv problems?{not sucking pooled up oil from the back of the valve cover} pcv

they are cast aluminum but it is not of the highest quality and you have to be mindful of the factory baffling system or you could make your condition worse

So it looks like this is not a feasible option.Seems that by now someone would make a good valve cover that wasnt 400.00 .

You could just drill a hole, and put in whatever
kind of fitting you had in mind with a backing
nut on the inside. Looks like the stock ports
are just press fit. Might have enough meat to
just drill & tap, with some Loctite to keep it.

You ought to be able to MIG or TIG up a bung to
the casting, I would be wary of warpage though;
probably would want to do this while bolted to
a dummy head.

I wouldn't put the port at either end; pooling
/ sloshing at the front on braking, rear on
acceleration. Somewhere at the center top would
seem to be best. Looks like mine has bungs at
both ends. Front runs to the TB and back runs
around & gets lost somewhere.

That oil filler neck sure looks like a handy,
high point. And fat, so you'd have less air
velocity to pull droplets up it.
