I love my Grots. They install *very* easy, they have very direct-shot tubes (no funky bends like the SLP or Hookers), they have very nice long collectors, and they're very light - about 8 lbs or less each side.

Just get the car high high high up in the air, pull the oil filter and drain plug, and you can get those headers in with no sweat. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Why the drain plug? I have never installed headers before.
When you have some time, can you PM me, step by step how you installed the Grotts?

For some reason when I installed mine the drain plug prevented me from sliding them up. The passenger side is really really easy to go in, one tip on the drivers side besides the oil filter and pump which is required you have the get the car up high enough to tilt the header perpendicular to the ground. As in have the collector face the ground, then with a little push and shove and at least with me a little yelling it slides right up. Just make sure you have the car up high enough or all you'll do is scratch the beautisul coating up on them. I did that so I speak from experience. Installing Grotts: Take off stock manifolds. Take off screws from passenger side coil pack, & flip it up out of your way. Taking the stock stuff off took me 2 hrs. The headers should take you 2-3 hrs more. That is taking your tim & taking lots of beer breake. As stated, take out the drain plug & oil filter. Right where the plug goes in, is the angle that the headers have to go in at. That's why it must be out.

Passenger goes in alot easier. Bolt them up, replace plugs if you want, AIR, and then zip tie wires out of the way. Check everything 10 times, and then fill with oil & filter, connect battery, and fire it up with open headers, & **** off the neighbors. Drive to the muffler shop & get a custom Y. Do not use the crappy Grott Y.

It's as simple as putting them on the same way you take off your stock ones.

Ya they are pretty easy. I have them, and we just installed a set on my fathers 2002 Z last sat.
Yes you do have to remove the oil filter and drian plug. So just be ready for an oil change.
Instead of lifting the whole front end up in the air.
Just get your jack, and about a 4 inch piece of 4x4.
Jack up just the drivers side as high as you can get it like that. then put a jack stand on a concrete block. To support it, and be safe. But with the car at that angle and up that high it slips right in.

I just ordered the LAST set of Grott 1 3/4 headers for 98/99 from Thunder Racing today. They should arrive on Wed. or Fri.

Yes I am getting a custom Y put in.
Does anyone have a pictoral of taking the stuff out? I've NEVER done this and want to be on the safe side. And what all needs to be disconnected again?
