You should be fine. It may run rough if the O2 sensors are mounted real close to the collectors.

It will run like total $hit I have open headers at the moment, getting duals on Thursday, and I drove around he neighborhood and good god. I can hardly keep it runnin below 3500 RPM. It spits, sputters, slows down and all kinds of nasty stuff, but get above that and it wants to move. I have to drive about 20 miles like that, just dont hold the throttle stead and youll do aight

That's what I'm in the process of doing right now. Hooker cat-back won't be in till next week. That big 229 sounds 10 times more intimadating, no one will even rev me. haha

Default Is it ok to drive open headers over to the exhaust shop?

I am going to put the Hooker LT's on my car and after I want to have an exhaust shop make a custom Ypipe for it. Is it alright to drive the car over there open headers? Will I mess anything up like the valves? The shop is like 3-4 miles away.

Thanks
Joe

Mine sounds god awfully mean with mac headers witha orp and no muffler. Only problem I had is that it intimadates alot of potential races. No import will even look at me and most stock fbodies and vettes just shake there head like ...... heeeeeeeellllllll no i ain't racing that thing.

I've got dual cut-outs after the headers and that's freakin loud! I don't leave them open too much since I have to worry about cops but I will keep them open once I can get some electric cut-out openers, then just flcik a switch when I see a cop. Yeah, you'll probably skip the muffler shop and go cruising for a while first once you see how awesome it sounds

Yeah, I got my Hookers on saturday and have been setting off car alarms and turning heads. Waiting on a Mufflex y-pipe. I even scared a couple people in parking lots. I love it! If I could afford the tickets I would run it like this all the time!! No one will race me except those really slow ricers that will race anything.

Do the open headers set off the after-cat O2 sensors?

It might be with just the SLP headers. I tried to make it to the exhaust shop, but I didnt make it out of the neighborhood. It kept dieing and spittin', sputterin' and finally set a SES light. Took it back and ATAPed it and go more codes than it could take All were Misfires, O2s lean, O2 malfunctions, All the exhaust related codes and MANY misfire codes. I put the Y-pipe back on and it ran great again. I guess its because the O2s ar right at the end of the collector and it just wigged out the comp.
