I wasn't happy in the least bit with the installation of my SW chambered exhaust. For what should have been a relatively direct bolt-in, there's was a lot of tweaking and fabrication that had to be done. It was ridiculous.

Hangers didn't fit where they were supposed to, pipes where too long in some areas, the y-pipe directly after the axle was not bent remotely close to the angle it needed to be, three band clamps were to big (at the stock y-pipe and at each tip), not to mention the chambered pipe in the I-pipe channel banged the hell out of the under-body. Plus, the over the axle pipe could be adjusted so that it wouldn't hit the axle, but after a two or three days of driving, would loosen up and smack the axle on every bump. Some of the band clamps simply wouldn't stay tight. I'm 6'3" and weigh 220lbs and I was torquing the clamps down so hard I thought for sure I was going to strip them.

I finally had to take it to a local shop and have the whole damn thing adjusted and welded to fit. My tips hang too low IMO, but I'm going to live with it for now and see if I can some how get them to lift them a bit later on.

In retrospect... I buy a different exhaust.

Well, I paid $1300 for FLPs back in 2000 and they rusted to **** in 2 years. These will not. As far as fit, GM at it's best some days.

I feel you man....I am glad I got my B&B, and with the cutout, I can go anywhere from fairly quiet to loud, to obnoxious.

It's really a damn shame when a manufacturer writes "may need some fabrication" into their directions. They weren't much help on the phone either.

You dodged a bullet. The first suggestion I received after the shop worked on my exhaust was to start with a new system. Gotta hate it when a phone call starts out like that.

The shop's telling me that the tips are hanging low 'cause there's no way (without futher fabrication) to get the passenger side tip any higher without looking stupid. So, they got the best fit they could on the passenger side and matched the driver side so it wouldn't look lopsided.

I'll have to get under the car and look real close, but I'm thinkin' that maybe I could sawzall a good sized slit in the bottom of each pipe (behind the chambers), lift the tips 'til they're a bit higher and then weld in a wedge where the slits are. I dunno.

So you're telling me that an $800 catback exhaust system like this isn't a direct bolt-on?

F that!

If every other company can manage to create a simple catback that hooks right up to stock hangers, comes with all the parts, and doesn't require potential custom work from an exhaust shop, how in the HELL can Stainless Works justify selling their product for that much when they can't even accomplish those qualifications?

Good question! I guess there was a reason I couldn't find squat on their exhaust systems when I bit the bullet on their "inventory reduction sale." Maybe there's a reason they have an over-stock???

They make some really nice stuff, but in the long run both their customer service; and I guess now their R&D just plain suck.
