Think about riding a ten speed bike and you are the engine pedaling the cranksaft,... the smaller gear on the front (smaller crank pully, underdrive) makes it pedal easier. Also a larger gear on the back (larger alternator pully, overdrive) was needed to make it easier to pedal but would not go as fast.

Good for horsepower; smaller (underdrive) crank pully and larger (overdrive) alternator pully. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

No charging problems with manual trans and mild electronics. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

what are the diffrence between those two :

1) ASP Underdrive Alternator Pulley.

2) ASP Overdrive Alternator Pulley.

under=rotates less
over=rotates more <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

or thats what i would take it to mean anyways <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

you need the underdrive crank pulley which gives you more horsepower, it is smaller so other stuff running by it get less power which free more hp=better performance. it come in a package with alternator pulley as well.

Underdrive cuts your voltage even farther - stay away from this one.

Overdrive gives you back what you lost in charging capacity with the underdrive crank pulley. This isn't necessary unless you have a big stereo system.

The 948500 comes w/ the crank pully only. You will also need to replace the belts and the crank bolt, any parts store should have them.

With the lower idle rpm of the auto trans it slows the alt down even more. ASP makes an alt pully that will help if it becomes an issue for you but it should be ok with the crank only and mild electronic upgrades. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

for auto, it's better to have crank pulley only to avoid charging problems.....
