Default Need some MAF help n a hurry...

Ok i just recieved a SLP MAF. i have a MTI clear air-lid and the MAF is too big to go in the lid...what in the world is my problem?

the first problem is the maf. The stock maf can easily hold up to 450hp and the Zo6 for $135 from the "stealership" will hold 550hp. The reason I say that the maf is a waste of money is because your stock as well as the zo6 are pre-calibrated meaning that air and fuel is already "set" into them. - no need to calibrate unlike the SLP/granitelli and others. the other thing they do is advance your timing which usually does not help. However some cars do fine with them but most do not. In my case I lost power when I installed mine. I had my car fully dyno tuned and just from fixing my air/fuel mix I picked up 20rwhp and nearly 20rwtq, My mix was all over the place from 11.3-12.6--way off. I highly suggest using the stock maf and sending the SLP back and using the money elsewhere like LCA's or something. But thats just one opinion. And yes I do still use my SLP maf because I had the car tuned with it on(heinsight is 20/20) but now that is dialed in its fine.

The maf won't fit because it's an 85mm and the stocker is 75mm. The MTI lid is for the stock maf, you will need an 85mm lid if you want to use the slp maf.

they do make an 85mm lid, but I think you could get some silicon tubing like that used on turbos, and blower ducting to get the two to fit, if you have bellows you might need to trim them

in fact pm CONAN he has the same setup, I think his slp maf came with a rubber ring on one end
