ok... i got an ls1 motorsports direct flo lid for my 2002 z28. installation was pretty easy...and then... exactly where am i supposed to mount the old hose that connected to the silencer thing? i attatched the little filter on it but have no where to mount it. also, i tried to close the lid once attatched to everything. but it only closes if i take out the tray that holds the air filter. do i need that tray?...one more thing, i forgot to order the oil/cleaner stuff with my holly filter, it says never to use it without the oil...true?PLEASE HELP ASAP...THANKS IN ADVANCE...

I cant answer all of your questions, but I can help with the one about filter oil. If the filter came oiled (ie: K&N and Holley Powershot), then dont use it without the filter oil. The oil is there to trap dirt. Without it, too much dirt will pass through into your engine. That is a bad thing. Also, use the manufacturer's oil (ie: K&N filter with K&N filter oil and Holley Powershot filter with Holley Powershot filter oil). Just follow the cleaning and oiling instructions supplied by the manufacturer. Otherwise the warranty on the filter is void. I personally have the Holley Powershot filter, but have only had it a few months and dont need to clean and re-oil it yet.

you can mount that hose whereever you want to. its up to you ziptie it out of the way somewhere. to get my lid on i pull the filter forward in the tray so i can get the tabs on the lid in then i push it back and it closes up fine. youll need the oil eventually and even more often if youve done the FRA mod or have an FTRA. you suck in some serious air with that mod. the oiling is easy but it takes a while because you have to let it air dry after washing it and then you have to let the oil dry so it wont mess up your maf wires.

Was your Lid all scratched up on the front of it?
I just got mine and it had scratches on it. It is a nice looking piece other than that. I zip tied mine to the stainless brake line between the Abs unit and the strut tower with filter facing up.

you need to push the lid back a little further towards the engine for it to close properly. Hope this makes sense

maybe i'm wrong, but i believe that the holley powershot filter comes pre-oiled from the factory. the holley filter oil is blue hence the blue filter element. i just cleaned mine the other day and after washing it, the filter element turned white in places. re-oiled it, back to blue.

im sure they come oiled. i got a k&n filter and it was oiled already. u should be able to tell just by touching it. if it feels oiled then throw it on.

I have a Holley Powershot filter and it came oiled. Others I know also have Holley Powershot filters and they cam oiled too. As mentioned above, the filter is actually white, but the oil is blue. Thats why the filter looks blue. I think the manufacturer suggestes yearly cleaning and re-oiling.

That sound is probably just the extra intake noise from removing that giant stock air silencer. Go drive it and listen from inside the car and you`ll probably like the new sound. When I put my FIPK on it was music to my ears.
