the install. Here is a picture of the kit.

The quality of the fit and parts is great. There
were no fit problems at all and I installed them
with a small bit of help from my 13y daughter.
I have 10K miles on them since dec 2001 and there
is no corrosion and no problems with setup.
hotcam+lid+exhaust 330/330
added slp kit ( headers , cats, y-pipe )
351/364
The price was around $900 delivered..
The are advertized as:
Tuned-length,long-tube, stainless steel headers

I'll speak on behalf of the Hooker LT people. I bought my LT from Jet-Hot (don't know if they are a sponsor yet) for $580 shipped and the uncoated Y-pipe from Tbyrne for ~$140 shipped and O2 simms ($90). Total was $810 shipped for all the parts. I installed the headers and Y-pipe myself in my driveway. Unlike the SLP my buddy had installed, I didn't have to move the engine or trans. Only thing needed to remove was the oil diverter and steering link. Everything came in the "kits" (LT kit has the gaskets, bolts, etc ... Y-pipe kit had the needed clamps). It took me roughly 3-4 hours at the most to install. All parts were brand neew and near retail (these are not from "super GP" prices).

Isn't the problem with the hookers that you can't get the cats installed?
Nobody that I am aware of has ever got cats to fit. There just is not a long enough section of straight pipe on one side of the Y to weld in a cat. On the other side, the pipe is too close to the floorboard to alow for the extra thickness of the cat.
Its just a great big NO-GO!
Thats why I am opting for FLPs, even though I [hate] spending $1300!

I think 11 Bravo is talking about $$<FLP>$$, if you read his post above. He just didn't name names.

Can you get them with a non-cat (ORP) y-pipe, then have a set of high-flow CarSound cats welded in? I understand the MAC cats are of poor quality and flow.
Then have the whole setup coated at Jet-Hot. I understand MACs coating sucks too.
Would that be feasable?
How much rwhp would I give up vs FLP LTs on a head/cam car?
Ron,
Im almost at the point where I might look at a set of MAC mid lengths.

Ron,

Yes it is feasible and a very affordable solution; good bang for the buck. It seems that you give up a few HP and some bottom end with MACs over L-T headers and MACs are more raspy, although the cats should kill the rasp. SLP's seem to have good midrange torque and are probably worth it for your goals.
BTW, I'd just coat the headers. I'm not sure that you can coat the Y-pipe once the cats are welded on and if you cut up a coated Y-Pipe to weld in cats, you loose most of the advantage of coating it.
I personally love my FLP's! I'm on my second set (1st set sold with my '98 T/A), and they're awesome for power! I picked up 20 RWHP at peak with stock internals, but the gains for HP and TQ were throughout the entire curves. I know of guys that are having great success with the Hooker headers as well, but it's not a complete kit like the FLP's are. The FLP's will come with a 2.5" y-pipe and removable cats. We carry both of them here at L.G. Motorsports, so give me a call if I can help you out.

2.5 inch y-pipe? Hookers are 3", and don't bang on the floorboard Did FLP fix that problem? I think I heard they did. I also hear FLP's rust after awhile.
