which would be better to go with if still planning on running cats. what are the different power gains in the both of them. also if i go with the hookers which pipe should i go with that has cats that will bolt up to aftermarket exhaust.

Both sets of headers will make some great power. I don't have any experience with the Hooker headers, but I'm on my second set of FLP's. I had a set on my '98 T/A 383, and I now have a set on my SS. If you're wanting to run cats, I would personally go with the FLP's. You'll have the ability to remove the cats when you go to the track, and you'll be able to swap them back in for street use. The cats flow pretty well also. The FLP system is a complete kit with a 2.5" y-pipe, cats, off-road pipes, v-clamps, etc. We carry both sets at L.G. Motorsports, so just ask for me when you call and I'll be glad to help you out.

I agree with Trevor (hey man, no sales tactics in this forum, tak it to the sponsor's section j/k ). But as for the Hookers, the only Y-pipe with cats available is the Mufflex. I think it starts at $250 without cats. In this scenario ... FLPs are a better choice.

I have a set of FLP headers and I love them. The hooker long tube headers are good headers but I dont think they have very good ground clearance.

My Hooker headers have very good ground clearance... its the Ypipe which doesn't. Thats ok, i'm very happy with it all though.

If you want to run cats, i'd get the FLPs.

I love my FLP headers. There's some photos of them at my website linked below. Easy to install and haven't caused a lick of trouble. Sound great too.

I never cared for FLP's because so many complained about the y-pipe banging on the floorboard. I understand they fixed it, though. But, it's only a 2.5" pipe, compared to Hookers 3". If you plan to run h/c or a big bore motor the small pipe will suck some power I imagine. You can get Hookers and just weld cats on the y, but if it was me`and I didn't plan to make big hp I'd get FLP's and get them Jet Hot coated.

Here is a dyno graph on my car. The lower one is with the stock 2.5" y-pipe and the higher one is with a 3" FLP y-pipe and 3.5" flowmaster collector. Those were the only changes. Worth some in the midrange but not much up top.

2.5" vs 3" FLP y-pipe Dyno

The "fix" for the FLP y-pipe was angling the v-flange down to clear the floorboard better. My y-pipe no longer hits with the revised version.

FLPs rock! My car is lowered with the Eibach prokit and when I throw the skinnis up front the car is slammed even lower. I have never bottomed out on the headers. The added versitility of the FLP y-pipe is a nice bonus. Straight pipes, cats, custon flanged mufflers, its all easy to do. Floorband clearence is tight but nothing a little piece of rubber hose and BFH can't fix.

If not, where can I buy that collector?
