Radiator Fans ??????

Radiator Fans ?????? Can somebody check for me today and see if their radiator fans come on high when the a/c is turned on max? I'm having a/c trouble and my fans are not going on high. I think they are supposed to anytime the a/c is put on the max setting and this may be my problem. My shop manual wasn't much help on this and I'm thinking I may have a bad relay.

Re: Radiator Fans ?????? No high speed fans when AC on, unless ECT gets to high speed turn on temp.(confirmed this with my manual fan switch).
I do believe the fans run on low speed w/AC on.

Re: Radiator Fans ?????? Ok, thanks for the help. Guess I have a typical low charge condition. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> Everything else seems to be normal. Compressor, blower, etc. working fine. I swear my car used to put the radiator fans on high whenever I went to max a/c. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> Guess I'm geezing.

because the car will actually run cooler than
if the AC is off and I have on manual low speed
fans.. according to digital temp gauge.
Also the noise seems way higher with ac on..

Re: Radiator Fans ?????? After the initial request I went outside and fired mine up (was pretty warmed up from some earlier tweaking). Hood was up.
Turned AC on normal.
Flipped manual switch on high, high fans then kicked on.

Turned AC on MAX.
Flipped manual switch on high, high fans then kicked on.
Unless my Y2K works different than other years...

The only reason I'm doubting is because I distinctly remember my fans going to high speed whenever I turned on the a/c. I might be crazy or my '98 may be different than your '00.

Re: Radiator Fans ?????? JD, I know mine don't run on high speed when the AC is on. Besides my quick check, I know that very often when I'm sitting in a bank line, for example, and hear my fans kick on/off high speed from extended idling. And here in Florida, my AC is on probably 10 months out of the year.
But like I say, '98s may be different.

Edit: thinking back about it, one of the reasons I like the manual switch is so I can keep fans on high in stop/start traffic-seems to keep AC cooler.

I messed around with the car last nite and couldn't get the high speed fans to come on at all. It was 90+ yesterday here.
