Lots of questions here. I personally don't know of any headers that you can use the stock cats. You can get aftermarket y with cats if ness. I would do longtubes myself with and off road y (no cats). Lots of different brands of headers from cheap painted to expensive stainless. Just start checking the sponsors over here=====>>>

you could have someone cut the holes bigger and weld them to an offroad pipe (i've done this myself), but personally I would go with soundcat cats, they are cheap and flow extremely well I got mine for 40 bucks each off of a company on ebay the were CARB and 3 inch diameter. Most headers will give about the same performance but different ones will have different qualities. I bought some jet hot ones that rusted after 3 months, so this time around I bought uncoated, stainless is the way to go, but if its not a show car-who cares, the uncoated will still last 8-10 years. I went with flowtech, and haven't had any problems, they fit nice and were the cheapest I could find at 230 bucks with o2 extenders and some other stuff. The quality is pretty low-the welds look like crap, but like I said they haven't leaked or any other problem, and they went in without a hitch.

If I were you I would go with Pacesetter long tube race style coated headers. Ive got these on my car with the pacesetter off road ypipe and SLP loudmouth and it sounds badass and gave my car about 20 more rwhp. You can delete the codes for the cats and it wont throw a code as long and as its not throwing a code they are not gonna check to see if your car has cats. (at least they dont in NC) but thats my $.02

Find out if you need to pass visuals, or a sniffer, if not computer tune out the cats and egr and airpump, and rear o2's then your good to go
