Default How to cool engine down?

Hey guys, I just got my FTRA and I am slightly, very slightly concerned about my engine running a little warmer, what are some thing I could do to keep it running cooler?
So far my car is pretty stock, all my mods are sitting in my room which is only a FTRA, MTI lid and Holley filter.
I have read a little about a 160 thermostat and a manual fan, but have no clue what they do or how they work, also if there is anythin ese I could do?
Thanks in advance

I think I would go ahead and not do 160F in your
part of the country yet. I would however get
ready for next spring.
I put in a 160F thermostat because I was getting
bad pinging on highway trips, where your running
75 with AC on and the car would rattle bad with
just a bit of throttle. Since that time (summer01)
I have put in the 160F and fans and aftermarket
temp gauge.
This summer I was reading 220F at 75-80MPH out
side air 95ish heat of the day ; AC on MAX, also
had Le-bra installed , I think it took away a small bit of cooling air. Turning the AC off gave
me 215ish. Night time driving 85-90outside I ran
about 195-200 with AC on..
This winter, do the fan mod and get ready to install a 160F when it warms up in your area.
In mid oct here in north TX ill go back to stock
settings.. if you just want to try it here is
a free 160F mod.

IDK New Jersey summers are pretty disgusting, we often hit mid 90's but with the humidity it is said to feel like 110 degrees, but to me it feels like 2000 degrees. So what should I do now and in the future?

Bad02 cooler is not always better, but in summer
90F ish I totally agree ...

We have read that the
LS1's make the most power at 178 deg, and that the coolant temperature should be maintained at least 175 deg. For this reason we will go back to the stock 180-deg thermostat in early fall and keep it in until late spring.

Put in the 160* I live in Montreal and I need it. If you drive your car in late fall and winter then think about putting in a 180* or even the stock one.

Manual fan switch, Hypertech Power programmer fan settings, or LS1edit fan settings can all help your fans come on sooner and help cool the engine.

A cooler engine is always better. Do it now. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
