I haven't had my 98 Z28 for long and the A/C has blown hot from the beginning. I got a recharge kit and one of the Chilton's Manuals from the parts store and tried to DIY. The darned manual only showed pre-98 pictures. I can't find an (obvious) low-pressure fitting. I found one that the kit will fit on, but it is on the accumulator. The pressure was 150lbs!!!

Was that the correct fitting? Has some other person overcharged it?

You don't have to, but it makes things a lot easier. There is a chance of breaking off a fitting while moving the condenser. The lines are expensive and there is a long wait for them.. guess how i know.

you need to recover whatever refrigerant could be left (probably none)

pull a vacuum on the system...i usually like to pull 400 microns.

static charge the system by weight...the camaro take 1.5 lbs of r-134A.

if the system wont take 1.5 by static charge...turn the AC on...and charge to 1.5 lbs with gas.
