Default Hey PATMAN.

Thanks PATMAN for being so quick to respond to my FRAM oil filter Question. I never knew about those problems with fram if so beleive me I would never have put them on definetly gonna change. A while back you said you were gonna use the auto RX internal engine cleaner. How did it go what were the results. When you use that do you put it in with a fresh oil change or wait till your last 500 miles of your current oil use. I would hate to put in almost $25 in oil and drain it out after 500 miles. I was hoping you would be the one to respond to my oil filter question I was gonna ask you directly but then nobody else would have answered. So should I wait till its time to change the oil again to take off that filter or should I just waste this oil change and do it now. It only been about 1000 miles. You are so helpful when it comes to oil questions.

I am very pleased with the results of Auto-rx! I think my engine was a bit dirty inside, so others may not see as drastic a result, but in my case the engine is definitely quieter (valvetrain was a bit sticky) and it's smoother also. And I swear I have noticed a good increase in bottom end torque as well. I won't know for sure until I hit the strip again though.

My next oil analysis will be telling as well, as it should show the next oil not having to work as hard to clean the engine, so the nitration levels will be lower, and most likely the oil will have less oxidation and hold a higher TBN as well (it's ability to neutralize acids will be better that is)

So I don't believe this product is necessary on relatively new engines, but for those that are slightly older and may be gummed up a bit, or have minor oil leaks, this stuff definitely seems to work well. There are a lot of people I've talked to that have used it with great results.

Oops! I forgot to mention. You don't need to change the oil before using this stuff. Just put on a fresh filter and then drive another 500 miles, then change that oil out. No need to waste any oil here. In my case I did go with a fresh change, but only because I wanted to have the old batch analyzed.
