Default Guys with line locks in here please!!

For those of you that have line locks, I was wondering where you mounted your switch at in the car. I was thinking about in the ash tray, but the access isnt that great. So please post where you put them at if you have any pics that would be nice too.

Mine is mounted in the ashtry. It's not too bad, plus it gives me an excuse for people not to smoke in my car.

My friend has his mounted right by the lighter. The part that looks like it would hold a cigarette box. He put a plastic plate there and drilled holes to fit his switches. Looks bad-***!

Sorry, no pic yet, but I can tell you nwhat I did.

I purchased an extra fog light switch from my local dealer and used it as the line lock switch. I prchased my car without ASR, so I had a "DUMMY" cover between the factory fog light switch and the "Camaro" emblem in the middle of my dash. I pulled the "dummy" cover out, and moved the "Camaro" emblem over one spot (there are two additional switch mounting holes under the "Camaro" emblem). What I was left with was the factory fog light switch, the "Camaro" emblem, and a spot for my extra fog light (now line lock) switch, left to right, in that order.

I re-wired the xtra switch using "jumpers" to the wiring for the factory fog light switch and existing ASR harness in the dash. In fact, I cut the plug off of the ASR harness and done my splicing from it. That way I just plug it into the back of the new switch, instead of wiring directly to the switch.

What I now have is a nice factory-looking switch in the center of the dash. It even lights up when the lock is in use

What I am going to do is use the convertible's switch panel. Under the A/C controls you (as a Pontiac w/ASR) should have that panel with the ASR switch mounted to it already, just purchase the panel for a convertible and now you have an extra place to mount another OEM switch for your line lock.

Temporarily, I have it hanging inside my center console "glove box". When I need it, I open the center console, pull the switch out and close the console lid. It is right there next to me, easily accessible.

I mounted mine in the ashtray on the little ledge where you put a smoke out. I have a TR kit and the switch for it fits perfectly on it.

I had to grind the side of the ashtray to get it to fit. Also had to bend the wires because they were hitting a shifter part.

The install looks very clean. It's out of the way. Nobody smokes in my car so it won't be accidentally activated.

I mounted switch next to diagnostic port under dash where console and dash meet.

I just took the ashtray out and have the switch hanging out in there. I can pull it out as far as I need to when I have to do a burnout and then just tuck it back in. I figure, who cares how nicely it is mounted when the ashtray lid is closed.

Thanks for the ideas so far. I think I may have to install mine in the ashtray because I dont have the area above the radio like you guys do for switches etc. I also thought about using a coiled wire like you could use for a transbrake and have it run out of the ashtray when using it, and when Im not, just stuff it back down in there. Any other ideas.

Hurst makes a nice push button switch that mounts on any shifter, just below the handle or ball. This way you just let go of the button and roll out of your burnout, and you can shift into 2nd or 3rd during the burnout.

Well I decided to mount the TR push button switch in the ash tray. I used the space where you are supposed to put the cigarette out on as my location. I dont smoke, and no one else smokes in my car so it works great. Have any of you with line locks had the parking brake light come on when you use the line lock?? I was trying it out in the country tonight, and the light came on when I used the line lock and didnt turn off. Well thanks for the help and ideas.
