Next mod? Ported vs. Descreened MAF
So far, I have an SLP Lid, K&N, SLP CAI and a Magnaflow exhaust system. What should my next mod be? I was thinking about descreening my MAF, but I was wondering if I should port it while I am at it. I initially was going to do MAF ends and I posted about it and was told that this would have negative effects on my 2000 A4's transmission line pressure. Will porting the MAF have the same effect? Anybody have any opinions on this or warnings? Thanks in advance.

Well if you really wanna start to get some power I would open the wallet up for some headers...
You don't have to go with the expensive FLP's but look around and you could find a nice setup.
Good luck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Thanks for the suggestion. I have considered headers, but not at this point. I am looking to see what can be done with the MAF at this point since this seems to be a favorite mod for many on the board.

If you're looking for a SOTP mod, playing with the maf is not gonna do much, if anything for ya. TC, headers, cam, or gears <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Be careful playing around with the MAF. You don't want to make the car run too lean. I'm not sure what year your car is, but I've heard that '00 models get too lean with ported MAF ends. On a good note, the very first thing I did was descreen the MAF. I dyno'd before and after and I picked up about 19rwhp and 19rwtq. I'm not saying that's what you'll get. I think I was running very rich. Make sure you do some tuning if you decide to do any of this.

It's a crap shoot whether or you'll gain or lose performance. But the thing with this mod is, if your car likes the "descreen", you'll hardly feel the gain. If it downgrades you as a result of the descreen, you'll definatley notice. Anyway that's my view on the subject. The mod is very reversible though so you can try it out.

Spend the $100 bucks at Thunder Racing for their
ported MAF ends. Its about an 8HP mod And you will still have your stock ends intact.
your cars computer will adjust for the new ends.
