Default All kinds of problems... please advise!

I posted earlier about PCV problems... I think that is fixed, just left all the PCV stuff off and put breathers on each valve cover. New problems though... car blows out black smoke A LOT, like I filled a two car garage in literally 15 seconds... car also idles badly, loss of power, stumbles, but no ticks, knocks or rattles. The car consumed a lot of oil from the PCV and I think either my rings are toast or there is just a lot of oil that needs to burn out. Smoke also POURS out of both breathers on top of the valve covers... especially when I rev it. Enough to the point where I can see it come out my hood when I drive. My MAF was ruined by the oil and I took out a spark plug and it was covered in oil... im talking saturated and dripping. I am getting misfires in cylinder #5 consistently ( the plug I pulled)Also MAF low volatage codes (replacing MAF ASAP)... can anyone please advise? Car is a 2001 SS with 38K miles, rings were replaced at 12K with the updated GM rings, mods are basic bolt ons, engine is 100% stock... minus the PCV system.

Like I said in your other thread, it sounds like you broke a ring. Extreme blowby, oil in that cylinder as well as misfires...doesn't look good. Doubt whoever installed updated rings for you knew what they were doing, or used the wrong rings, or some combination thereof.

Do a compression test. You can get the tools to do this from your local parts guy, and it is a quick and easy way to see if your rings are gone.

Toasted Ring - Lots of smoke. Smoke from the crankcase. Eats oil. Loss of power. Runs rough.

I think your MAF is toast as well. Or at least its days are numbered after this episode.

ive determined the rings are bad, and guessing by the reoccuring misfire in #5 im guessing its that cylinder. However after doing a little research I have had similar problems sine I got the piston/ring update for my car... been consuming a lot of oil, putting a lot through the PCV and I could never use a breather because it would always leak oil and blow off. I had to put screws into the breather to hold it on. Does it sound like the dealership installed the rings incorrectly?

if you have that much blow by and a compression check shows more that 15% difference , you got bad rings.
go back to the dealership that did the rings and comlain, complain , and then complain some more!
then ask to see the manager and complain some more.
repeat as needed.

(try this as a last ditch effort, get some engine restore from any auto partsstore and pour it in your engine, it should help your blowby problem. did on both my trucks)
