new exhaust setup hey guys i have a 99 ss m6. i just got a new setup for my exhaust and i was wondering if it will work? i have longtube headers(ceramic coated) going to cutouts(manual) on boths sides and into an offroad y-pipe into my factory catback. my question is will my o2 sensors get messed up with the open cutouts? i heard you need atleast 16" of pipe after the o2 sensors to not mess them up. unfortunatley i heard that after i put the exhaust on. so am i screwed or will it be okay? any info will help thanx.
I think he's referring to his front o2 sensors being so close to open air when the cutouts are open. Are the cutouts attached directly to the header collector? Like you said, it's best to have at least a foot of pipe after the collector before the cutout, but I think you'll probably be ok if you don't leave them open all the time. Another thing you could do is get a couple exhaust flanges and weld a little pipe onto them. When you remove the cap from the cutout, replace it with this flanged pipe and that will give you the extra length you need.
