Polyurethane Motor mounts installed...and pictures
After Ryan K posted about a successful install of a set of Energy suspension 3.1116 motor mounts in the LS1 metal housing, I went ahead and did the mod to mine.
As he mentioned, its not a direct fit but it works
After removing the motor mount and separating (grinding out the rivets) the clamshell halves:

Comparison of the stock and Poly mount insert

I forgot to snap a pic of it back together but its wedged pretty tight in the clamshell but it works. 2 of the metal tabs had to be ground off to give clearance for the bolts holding the motor mount to the engine. One other thing...the mount was a tad shorter front to back than stock...Ryan K suggested putting in 3 washers to make up the difference and it works great
The engine does not MOVE at all with my pretty aggressive cam...it shook violently before the install
for 50 bucks...very worthwhile mod

Re: Polyurethane Motor mounts installed...and pictures
well it definately transmits more vibration but its a good alternative to solid motor mounts

how hard was this to install. my motor shakes pretty vilently with my cam. i did the homemade torque strap mod that helped a little but it still has a lil shake to it. do you have to remove anything to get to the mounts

Where exactly did you have to grind on the new poly mount? Did BMRs K-member come to you with new rubber engine mounts or do you just bolt over the stockers? Thanks!

see those 2 tabs sticking out of the side...had to cut off one on each side...
the bmr don't come with mounts just modified the stock clamshells

I too did the "Ryan K", #3.1116 mod... This is one of the 10 best LS1 mods to do.....
As Fireball stated, the insert is "snug-as-a-bug", in the LS1 "clamshell"...
That is a big, big PLUS with this mod as you will never get "flex" with this tight fit...
For this reason alone, I KNOW, that this setup, WILL be better than any other vendor made mount for our application...
Sometimes, "HotRodders", ideas are better than any others, AND this is one of them... Thanks Ryan K.
It is also correct that you will need 3 washers to correctly space out the mount on install... This is cool, & doesn't cause ANY need for operational worry...
I only did the drivers side, as I have NO engine movement & NO NO NO NO vibration, ZERO, NONE, NOBODY could even tell that you replaced the mount... I can't even feel any difference with my own car !!! You can SEE the difference, blip the throttle, The engine doesn't move !!! If I blipped the throttle for you, you would start looking for a "Madman" motorplate setup...
No need to do both sides. Think about it for a second, You wouldn't put a torque-strap on both sides , would you ?????? Just ask the GN crowd, they only do the drivers-side...
Fireball comfirmed my fears that replacing both sides will lead to vibration...
I've had just the one side now for approx: 6 months or more ,& it is one of the best mods that I truely belive that EVERYONE should do. It works very very well. No need for torque straps, or other "patch-work" "micky-mouse" type shortcuts...

Re: Polyurethane Motor mounts installed...and pictures
When running both mounts, does one get the washers in front of the mount and the other on the rear of the mount? It looks like the drives side needed the washers in the back, while the passengers side had the extra space in the front. The stock rubber mount is it one part number for both the left and the right?

Re: Polyurethane Motor mounts installed...and pictures
Nevermind.... I found out the answer. The stock rubber mount 98-02, the left and right have the same part number. Since the stock mount is asymmetrical compared to the ES polyurethane, the extra washer will be placed in different locations according to the side. On the drivers side I wound up putting the spacers on the rear of the mount (side of mount facinf rear of car), while the passengers side the washers go on the front side of the mount.
