Default Loud Mouth vs. Borla in Performance

Which is better for a stock '00 Z28?
I'm looking into catback exhausts.

I would say if you had the full-open plate in the borla they would be about equal in power gains, but the SLP Loudmouth should be A LOT lighter in weight. My old Borla was extremely heavy. Weight means a lot when racing.

No difference with Borla wide up but the SLP catback will be a lighter and cheaper.

Has anyone actually weighed these two systems to say the Borla is heavier? Or do you just think it is??

The borla is around 50#'s
The loudmouth is only about 20#'s
I've owned the both, I know.

I say go for the loudmouth, because I have one for sale cheap.

later,
Steve

Yes the SLP LM is light because of the straight pipe resonator, but it's only 2 3/4" compared to Borla's 3".

Shouldn't the 3" outperform the 2 3/4" ?

When I get FLP LT headers, won't the 2 3/4" restrict the air flow compared to the 3" ?

Go with the Borla brother! You cant beat the sound of it. It is adjustable, and you have lifetime warranty on it. It is all stainless steel 3" all the way back! I have had it for about 4 mts now and get so many compliments on it. I run it without the plate in it, sounds mean as hell! The cops like it alot! lol. But in all seriousness, the Loud Mouth is nice, but a little loud and raspy for me, especially with headers. I just dont think that you can beat Borla, call me biased! Lol!

Just a quick question, would there be any problem running B&B tips on Borla exhaust?

Just to clarify - the SLP Loudmouth uses a 3" I-pipe with a 4" resonator and dual 2.5" tailpipes behind the axle. It is constructed completely of 409 stainless steel.

After hearing the borla, I went out and got the loudmouth. 1/2 the price, 1/2 the weight, I'd bet more power.

I gained 33 RWHP and 24RWTQ with the LM and a LID. So say 25RWHP with the LM alone. That is alot of HP for $309 shipped.
