Well, my car is the first SS of the year 2000(build #ooo1), but has an 99 owners manual in the glove box. There is no production date on the car anywhere. I am trying to order some QTP LT's as I speak. There is a differance between 98-99 and 2000 model headers. I have air tubes and an EGR valve. How do I tell what year my car REALLY IS.

I guess thats what I am trying to ask, do 98-99 not have an EGR valve period? if they don't then problem sovled. So then I should be fine ordering them for a 2000 model, right?

Aiight, here's the dealio. 98-00 models had EGR and AIR. The 00 models have both cats bolting right up to the exhaust manifolds. on earlier models, the passenger side cat is mounted further downstream in the Y-pipe.

Thanks for clearing me up on this!

I would save all the stock parts as well...Sounds like a very cool SS to have and maybe deserves a little more homework...
Its just strange that it doesn't have a production date on it...I would maybe try to find out more history on the car..If anything just for the hell of it...

I have a Motortrend or Car and Driver ( i cant remember) that has a black hardtop tested for 2000. It went up against everything from a T/A to a Dakota R/T. I wish I knew how to research this car more. I really want to put headers on it though. I should be ordering them tommarrow. I just got the subframe connectors welded on last week.
Wierd "quirk" cars come out like this some times (Not meaning quirk as an insult)..I know on the earlier days of the old LS1.com days...there was a guy who had a silver 98' TA with FACTORY cloth seats which is very wierd considering that all LS1 TAs come with leather only.He had the build sheet to back it up as well...
The only other LS1 TA I have ever seen with cloth interior was a white one in Car and driver which was a test car...
So I wouldn't get real excited about this but,I would definately be curious.I don't think it means that your car is "extra valuable" but,to people who are reall into all this stuff and car history, she sounds like a very special gem!
