Default Water Baffles

I sold my V8 Fiero a few weeks back, and bought my new toy. I am getting used to my new '02 Orange WS-6 and am in the process of "making it a little quicker". So far, I have done the FRA mod and got rid of the ridges on the air box. I also removed the baffles in the hood because it seemed to block the air flow too much, but am now worried about water intake. Should I worry about this? I read up on the FRA and it seems water should not be a problem here, but how about the hood? Any thoughts or experence on this?

Thanks!
Mike

Mines bin holding up fine.. no water even gets on the the filter.. it all depends on how hard its raining and how fast your driving.. cuz you'll suck the rain right in if your doing 100mph in pooring rain

I removed all of the baffles. I also put on a seal that links the air bok to the ram. You can actually feel the air being sucked in when you gas-it! Not just alittle suck, a lotta suck.

I have noticed water inside the ram, but not all the way to the box. In the rain I try to keep the RPM as low as possible. So no water gets sucked in.

I also did the free ram air mod. when I did the sealed ram air. I picked up over 1mph consistantly.

I also plan to make a ram air blocker for the rain. Either somthing that block the back of the ram. Or somthing that blocks the front of the air box. It will totally by pass the ram and just use the FRA.

Thanks for the feedback. I really don't see much of a problem with it either, and I don't plan to take it out in bad weather, but you never know when rain will hit. I thought of making some kind of blocker plates that could clip on the hood screens quickly JUST IN CASE of a downpour.

II was also thinking of a seal from the hood to the air box. I seen something on ebay, and it just looks like some kind of glued on rubber or foam seal. I think I have the tinker skills to make one, but is there a company that sells this?

Thanks again

Mike

You can find the foam seal in the Classified section and there is a link to the "clip on screens" I made for foul weather as well. The seal is rather tricky to make as you must have just the right thickness for interference fit and still retain a good seal. Also if it does not have excellent bonding strength, it will tear off when you close the hood. Density is another factor for durability and effective sealing properties. There are a number of other factors and the seal I've made take all of these into account. So, yes you can try to make something and waste a lot of money finding an acceptable product and then multiple test designs for fit. But I have already done all of this to come up with the best possible product for this application. Choice is yours! Feel free to email me with questions.
