Default short belt question

How dose a shorter belt help performance? Dose it have a similar effect as new pulleys? If it helps on performance I am buying one tommrow ,gotta run a vett friday.

The short belt will bypass the powersteering pump,takeing less drag off the motor. I run a 52.7 in belt with my stock pulley and picked up .1/1mph a few weeks ago in the heat. I think i picked mine up for $22 but you need to pull the bottom alternator bolt out for the belt to clear without getting cut up. IF you have an A4 after pulling the alternator bolt out zip tie the tranny line back some so that it does not rub on the belt.

Is the car driveable on the steet or is the short belt usualy just used at the track?

You can drive it on the street it is just harder to steer.

its not hard to steer even if you are drive slow
