In my engine bay, there is a rubber hose/tube leading into the whisper lid. It's coming from the driver side fender area. What is it? Do I leave it? Remove it? Plug it up?
Thanks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Buy a breather for it since there is no provision for it in the lid. Then just zip-tie it off to the side somewhere...

Although this isn't on a LS1 the air breather looks like this, you can get it from AutoZone.

Where does this tube go on a LS1? On the driver side fuel rail cover area?
Does anyone make something to block it off from the whisper lid?
Any performance loss from just leaving it?
Also, what air pump? What's it do?
Thanks!

Since it already goes to the lid... leave it alone. It is the fresh air supply for your air pump, which pumps air into your exhaust, to feed your cats. If you didn't have cats, you wouldn't need the air pump. You could also put a filter breather on it, like mentioned above, and block off the little tube on the lid, if there's one.
I have the Direct Flo, so there is no place to connect the tube... it comes with a breather.

Pumps air for the cats? Why?
Yeah, I have hooker longtubes, and offroad 3" ypipe on the way, so I won't have cats, but I might have a cat added on the straight section.
Any suggestions? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Since when do Whisper lids come with an attachment for that tube? Maybe you made one yourself or you bought it used and somebody else made one? They never used to come with any provision for the tube.
I’m just curious because my three year old Whisper lid does not have one. I had to buy a breather. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Oh, to answer your question, they it pumps air (oxygen) to the cats to heat them up faster, thus reducing cold start emissions.

Ahhh... that explains it then. I was wondering because in your first post you said Whisper lid not SLP lid <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Anyway, just leave it as it is then. You will gain nothing by putting a breather on it.

OK, will do.
The SLP lid seems pretty smooth underneath, I'd assume it would do me no harm leaving it, and not changing it to another lid, right?
Or is there one way better?

SLP lid is just as good as any other. You will gain nothing by getting a different lid. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
