Default Gauge Install

Hey guys.

Where did you run your wires for your gauges on your pillar?

What's the best way to run them from the firewall?

Also, where did you tap your fuel pressure sender, oil pressure sender, and oil temp sender?

Thanks!!

boost under the pcm there is a rubber grommett
that you can pull out just a bit to run wires.
I did not cut the grommet but rather ran the wires
underneath it and carefully put it back in.
You will have to remove the two connectors
and remove two bolts to move your pcm out of the
way.
I dont belive you can tap into the stock senders
so you will more than likely have to install
senders that fit the gauges that you have for
the apillar.
here is what I have about the a-pillar install.

I ran my wires down through the dash and got the
power and ground that I needed in the console.

Thanks.

It's so funny... I've been asking for the last week, and I can't find any information as to where to tap my gauge senders on my car...

Where does everyone tap their Fuel pressure sender?

how about oil pressure or oil temp?

Thanks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Has anyone tapped their fuel pressure sender in their fuel rail? I'd think the sender sticking into the rail will cause a flow obstruction.

How about oil pressure? Is there a place to remove a bolt near the filter assembly, and screw in a pressure sender? Where is the stock sender? Maybe I can replace the stock sender with the autometer sender, and tap both off of it.

And for oil temp... tapping the pan is probably a bad idea, since it'll run cooler down there. Is there any place that has a fill plug, that I can remove, and screw in the temp sender?

Are there any how-tos anywhere that I can look at for reference?

Any help would be *greatly* appreciated.

Thanks!!

I couldn't tell you were to tap in for oil temp, but for pressor you can probably use the block off plate, located right above the oil filter. More than likely you can drill and tap this block off to accept your oil pressure sensor. As for fuel pressure, I would just use the schrader valve on the front of the bank 1 (drivers side) fuel rail. Just make shure to remove the valve core with a removal tool, and just screw it on there, then run the wires.
AS far as running the lines, I actualy drilled a small hole through the fire wall on the drivers side, up between the brake booster, and drivers side fender. It worked out pretty well. Sorry but I don't haev any pics, hope this helps though.

Just finished an oil pressure gauge install on my car. I tapped into that plate above the oil filter. The cat interfered with the sending unit so I pieced moved the sending unit a few inches forward. Basically copied what this guy did. Scroll down to the 8/12/01 entry. Later on he shows how he relocated the sending unit.
