Holy crap. Did I open up a can of worms here.
After reading the posts and such, I have decided to leave the damn thing in. With the car still being under warranty, I think I will just cover my *** and not mess with it.

Yeah, ok, Junior! You can honestly sit there and type that bull ****? So you are telling me that just by removing a MAF screen that you gained 19 hp? I dont usually disagree with people but come on, 19 hp? I would say the same about 9 hp. So you are telling me that you can gain the same amount by removing the screen as you can adding a lid, or some cat-back exhaust? Give me a freakin break kid.
There has to be another side to the story? Did you have a custom program while at the dyno session? Anyhow, if what you say is true, I wish I had your one of a kind LS1!
Does any one have any more input on this claim of 19 hp, or am I just a dumb *** in thinking that it is all !

That's irrelevant. I'm stating facts. And yes, I wouldn't believe it either if I didn't see it with my own eyes. I only got 12rwhp from my hooker catback. In stock form, my car dyno'd low 270rwhp. Does that sound right for an ls1 to you? I don't think so. Taking that screen off put me where I should have been, in the 290's.

I find it odd that you just flat out don't believe me. I have no reason to lie about it. Call Livernois Engineering in Dearborn Heights, Michigan and ask for Dan Millen if you don't believe me. He did the mod and the dyno runs. And if you think he's nobody in the racing world you can check him out here:

http://www.hardcore50.com/Articles/Debbie_Lauder/It's_Millen_Time.htm

I'm done with this post. I don't care if you believe me or not, but you have no basis to say that I am flat out lying. I was merely telling another fellow ls1tech member my results.

I have the dyno graph somewhere. I'll dig it up and post it. Just for you nay-sayers. Then again, you probably won't believe that either.

I think just about any Dyno Shop these days will sell you a pull sheet for $5 if not just outright give you one ??
You had a chance to bow out of this gracefully but now you went and picked up the shovel again and deeper you will go no doubt.
This thread can die off.....but its up to you ?

I have no reason to "bow out gracefully" since everything I've said is fact. It's your option to disagree. I do think it's funny though. What reason would I have to BS about this? Exactly, none. I might as well just tell everyone that I have c5r heads, a cam, yada yada yada. Do I? Nope. I tell it how it is. I have a slightly modified '00 Z28 that runs 13.4 @105. No lying there. Question me if you like. I see there's no point posting the dyno graph since that will be doubted too.

Maybe I made this up too:

https://ls1tech.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ulti...;f=24;t=001616

I posted it over 2 months ago. It's all part of my master plan to make someone believe I gained 19rwhp just by descreening the MAF. I'll be taking over the world after that.

OK camaro_ls1. You win this time. You are right, there is no way in hell that I can prove you wrong. So good luck in all of your future mods and may they bring you as much HP as simply removing the MAF screen!

Ok, I was going to let it lie, but you just dug yourself deeper. You put a link in the above post right? The link you gave us was to another post on this site correct? You claimed on this post that you gained 19hp. On the other post the same thing. But all of the others on the previous post, "as well as this one" claimed little to no gain at all. It is only there to straighten air flow and reduce tebulance into the manifold right? TTT

I understand your viewpoint. Trust me on that one. 19rwhp is a hell of a lot even to bolt on. I think I only picked up a few with a lid & filter and I didn't even get a tenth at the track. But in my case, this is what happened. Maybe the first dyno pull was f*cked up, I don't know. But on back to back runs that's what I got.

I guess I wouldn't believe it if you told be you gained 19rwhp from the !FRA mod. That still doesn't changed the facts.

I found the dyno graph and the info was listed in tabular format (excel spreadsheet). My sh*tty scanner won't pic up the images enough to read but I'd love to fax them to you if possible. They have the date and they also list baseline run, removed mass air screen, etc...

If you have one, give me a fax number.

You're really gonna love this. Max power on the first run was 271.1rwhp. The second run was actually 293.0. So I really gained 21.9rwhp. Torque jumped from 287.9 to 308.4 which is 20.5ft-lbs. I have legit dyno pulls to back it up. The only way this is not true is if there was problems with the dyno. That I might concede to.

OK... if someone has a TECH related discussion to continuem, start another post. If not, take this private conversation to email!

FWIW: My car gained 7rwhp & 9rwtq from the Whisper MAF ends. On a car that is having timing problems (not enough).. the MAF ends can cause a big difference in dyno numbers.

BTW: Stop racing dyno's.. try the track
