Weird smell after header install....???
Ok, I put on my hooker long tubes, no cats and the xpipe. Now, whenever I turn on the A/C I get a funny smell. It's not all the time, it comes and goes. I would say it is there more than it isn't. Any ideas? I know the car is going to smell like gas a lot more without cats....but I would think that would be outside the car. This smell is kinda sweet? Maybe an exhaust leak on the headers?

Well its hard to say without actually being there, but after I installed my Hooker LTs and ORY I noticed that I was sometimes getting that infamous smell of no cats through the A/C.

Stop!!! I had this same problem! Your A/C line is touching your headers, and is MELTING away! Eventually, the A/C gas will leak out, and your A/C will stop blowing cold! The replacement line is only $20. My recommendation is just bend the line away from the headers. They should be located on the passenger side, and you should be able to see where its rubbing. That damned smell had me perplexed for two weeks, and everyone had me convinced it was the "coating" burning off. I bought that right up, as it did smell like metal heating up.

Can you explain to me which line you are talking about. I just gave it the once over and don't see anything touching.

Well actually now that I read the question again, you're saying you smell it in the car coming from the A/C? Mine was only coming from the engine bay.
The line is about 1/2" in diameter, should be silver, runs a little over 14" long on the passenger side of the engine bay.

I had that same smell. It was the last primary tube on the passenger side that was heating up the factory air ventilation box made out of fiberglass. It's a funky smell.
