Default Crankcase Vacuum w/ Exhaust Sucker Thing?

I don't what it is called, so Exhaust Sucker Thing (EST) will be its official name for this post.

There is a fella that runs a ricer...err race shop down the street from me. Apparently, he sells an apparatus that is welded onto the exhaust system that can be used to pull a vacuum on your crankcase.

Obviously, this thing has to work on the venturi effect, and typically, venturri pumps don't pull **** for pressure.

Soooo, has anybody tried something like this. Did it pull adequate pressure on your crankcase, or is it a waste of time and money.

I'm tired cleaning my air/oil separator for my "PCV" system.

Thanks for the Info

You're right on how it works, but it can pull significant vacuum when running in the high speed exhaust system.

"Crankcase Evacuation Systems" are often used on drag or wetsump circle track engines to help ring sealing (on low tension rings) and help get the oil mist out of the crankcase if vacuum pumps aren't allowed by the rules.

$35 and up plus some hose. Mr. Gasket (P/N 6002)has about the least expensive one I've found.

IMO, if you are having an oil problem, this isn't the solution. Find the problem/leak/blowby.

Yea, I have blow by. Too many miles, too much fun. I just need something to last to the end of summer. Come winter time the stroker crank, and its eight little brothers goes in

I'm just tired of cleaning out my separator, and feel like messin with the car.

Thanks for the info

Probably wont work worth a damn unless you have VERY little exhaust backpressure. If you are running a muffler, I doubt it'll be effective.

JMX is correct, if this sucker thing is not a vacuum pump then it wont work, unless you run open headers. I have a dual 3.5" Flowmaster short before the axle system on my race car and with evacuation system set up hooked up motor pushes oil out of crank seals from pressure build up. Believe me this is a very low backpressure set up. It works fine with mufflers pulled off though.
