Default Benefits from removing AC

What benefits if any would one get from doing this. Just wondering if its really worth doing. I have made it all summer so far without using the AC once and in my last car i never used it except when i had for sale signs in the windows.

Benefits: Weight savings, drag from the compressor, more space in engine bay, more air to radiator, cheap sauna!

Disadvantages: Fogged windows in the rain, GF doesn't like cheap sauna on way to church, can't resell the car because no one else likes cheap sauna either.

Unless your A/C is "on", the compressor pulley is free-wheeling(like an idler pulley), so there is no parasitic loss. The advantage would be the weight loss. The compressor, condenser, evaporator, and all the lines, adds up to quite a bit of weight on the front end of your car.

But...IMO the weight loss isn't worth the drawbacks of not having your A/C system. I very rarely use my A/C either, but remember... your windsheild defroster works off the A/C system as well. And besides...chicks don't like to sweat. I bet you don't like sweaty chicks anyway. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

Weight reduction would be the only benefit. If you lived where I live, even if it lightened up the car by 500 lbs you would still leave it on.(complete HVAC system probably 20 or30 lbs.)I would NEVER remove it!!!!!
