It depends on your car. I use the GMAF for stock and car runs faster than the stock MAF. You can cut the screen and polish the stock and get more HP. The GMAF seems to run a little lean, but you can adjust it with the MAFT and get a hair little more power. That has been my experience. But, if you don't have the funds, just port and polish the stock MAF and that will be fine. I just like having my stock MAF around. I hope this helps.

I just bolted the slp 85mm maf sensor on tuesday. it runs like a totally different car. i'm not all that impressed with it yet. my buddy is an engineer for gm and he said it take a couple of hours of drive time for the computer to compensate for the added air flow. it does seem to pull harder at 5500 rpm. ive got about anther of drive time before i decide whether to go back to my stock de-screened maf

I've got a SLP, also have a stock one I ported as far as I could. Cut the center divider out ground it flush and then ran a hone though it till I was scared about getting it too thin where the O-rings are. I can swap them at the track and can't tell a difference between the two in mph. Maybe it a computer learning thing but I can remove the filter and can consistantly see .5-1 mph. If the computer had a problem "learning" one would think the air filter wouldn't pick up anything. My two cents-port the stock one and use the 150 bucks or so to buy a translator. Might come in handy if you buy headers.

For near stock engines, I have yet to see a performance gain running modified or aftermarket MAF's UNLESS the A/F ratio was too rich to start with.

My 2000 SS lost 3.0 rwhp (best pull) running a GMAF over a stock (screened) MAF. GMAF = 329rwhp, Stock = 332rwhp. This was also after trying 3 GMAF's.

If you are under 400rwhp, look for power elsewhere.

Want a little proof? Look in classified sections. GMAF's are among the most common used items for sale. Think about it.

i was reading in my gm hightech or high performance pontiac about the slp one. they installed some stuff & dynoed. then put the maf on from slp. they were down on hp from before. i think they put like 300-500 miles on the car & went back to the dyno & picked up more hp after the comp. had learned. it could be other things like the air temp., barametric pressure, humidity, that effected it. i am switching mine out for free to a guy turning his back to stock so he can sell the car, along with his LCA's.

My Slp Maf works well, however if you are running an auto you can run into some shifting issues with it. My shift points had to be changed to keep from hitting the limiter at WOT with that MAF. I did notice a positive difference though after I installed it.

I had the SLP lid and noticed very little difference. I then added the Granatelli and the bellows and there was a noticeable difference, runs smoother and pulls better in all rpm ranges.

my experience with the slp 85mm is that i felt like i lost a little throttle response but it pulls longer at high rpm's. before my car felt like it was done around 5500, now it pulls hard to 6000rpm. i have only had it on for a week, and im still not all that impressed. i need to get some tb work done, and new exhaust
