I just got some 3" Random Tech cats(part# 703000) from Tbyrne for an unbelievable price compared to others. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

I had to keep asking if we were talking about the same part number because the price was so good. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Silly question but I have to ask....if you don't need to pass emissions, why on earth do want to put CAT's on???? If you want it quieter use bullets. Cheaper and more effective.

And by the way, Carsound makes the highest flowing CAT's.

I agree with John B if no emissions you should go with the highest flowing ones, off road pipes. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

ok heres the thing i am going with hooker lt headers a custom x pipe with cats. i want the cats for visual. the cops are dicks and will harrass me till i put them back on. damn hippies. but i want a quieter exhaust. i had a mustang with no cats and bullet mufflers. but it was too loud and made my interior rattly.

Is one bullet sufficient in the ypipe and what length are they..only have a bit of room now as put my cutout in the intermediate pipe also. And anyone run b and b catback with no bullet and just offroad..and if so how did it sound..raspy??
I have the tts headers ,their cats and electric controller cutout system..my car is not loud at all with the cats might want it a bit louder but of course with cutout open it does the same thing..really wonder how much power I am losing.if its like 5 hp dont' care much if its like 15rwhp then would car ..should seems like I got a big sotp from just the headers though even with cats..heard the tts used to be not very good but they claim the new ones flow just fine..

If all your gonna do is hollow them out then don't get the 703000's they're not cheap.

Just get some stock ones and hollow those out. <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />

Put a WTB stock cats in the classified section. I'm sure somebody has a set laying around. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

If your going to hollow out some cats I think you need to wear some respiratory protection. I think there is asbestos or something else nasty in there. Can someone confirm if this is true?

Actually, John, the latest test I read had the Random Techs not only outflowing the Carsounds, but significantly outlasting them, as well. The RT's were bulletproof through some high hp NOS testing, where the Carsounds burned up and fell apart....

If you want some really high flowing cats, get some 3" RT cats put in. Part# 703000 3"I/O 9.5" overall length, 4" bullet style.

I saw on here that they flowed 560cfm so I checked with Random Tech and they said the same thing. 560cfm at 28in/H2O. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

They are a little exspensive but, Carol at Tbyrne gave me a smoking deal on them. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

if passing emmissions isn't a problem then why not just go without cats? no cats flow better than the highest flowing cats on the market. <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" /> cats

Cats do have asbestos linings in them so good respirator should be worn when hollowing out cats. and contents should be swept up and bagged and thrown away in auto shop(hazardous materials) dumpster. For any one who is interested i flow tested ported head with and with out 2000+ stock manifolds and cats, results were passenger side out flowed drivers side together or tested individually and worst cat only hurt exh. flow between 5 cfm and 15 cfm at hi lifts versus no cat and integral pipe.

His car most likely came with cats but if you need some stock ones to hollow out I have some. They're just sitting in my garage in a box taking up space.

I am ready to get my exhaust system taken care of. I am just having trouble finding a place to do it. I live in a little town and guess I will have to go to the DFW area, if I can find someone. I am undecided on the headers, but want to get a true dual system, deleting the cats. I guess I am asking if anybody could pm a place that they might recommend to do this.

Thanks

I had heard that RT was putting out this new cat and it would flow more than the 813000 bullet due to the metallic vs. ceramic substrate. Those flow numbers are exceptional for such a small cat.
