Default Best Induction Setup?

Im looking to spend some money on changing my stock induction around and I need some pointers. What setup will give me the most hp? I like the K&N package and I also like some of the lids and ram air kits. Which one of these or a combo will give me the best performance? Thanks!

I descreened my MAF. I'd suggest it.
Not sure about the supersucker.

I have the FIPK on my SS. Before i put it on, i has a whisper lid/k&n setup... i think i like the FIPK better, the engine seems to rev up faster. I dunno how well the ram air works now though, it should still work as far as giving colder air than whats under the hood, but i dont think it offers a positive pressure. My vote goes to the FIPK... especially since i bought it used off of ebay for 50 bucks.. a quick clean of the filter, and support, and its set to go, just like new. hehe. I have a pic you want to see it...

Fast toys ram air, K&n or Holley, Lid of your choice, after market MAF or MAFT, fernco mod or bellows, and port your TB. that'll pretty much rework your entire induction setup.

Well, im probably going to end up doing alot of those. At least descreening the maf. Could I get the FIPK and then use FTRA just to get an abundant cold air supply to it? If not I think im still going for the FIPK because of price, a lid, good filter, and good ram air are money. Thanks!

You cant use the FTRA with the FIPK.. but ive seen many that have drilled large holes directly under the filter area... that helps out the air supply a little, even though air supply is already abundant.

What's the best induction? That's easy... forced induction. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Go with the holley powershot filter (or K&N) and the cheapest lid you can find. All of the lids perform about the same. I'm not too sure about the FIPK though. If you have ATAP or another diagnostic tool, then consider some ported MAF ends also. Everyone likes the FTRA. I don't have any experience with it personally. Do the !FRA mod for sure. It helps alot. I've also replaced the stock bellows (between MAF and thottle body with a 3x3" Fernco hose. Some claim that it will crack the lid. Mines fine though.

There's an engine bay pic in my sig. You might be able to get an idea by checking it out.

Thanks for the suggestions. The FIPK really looks like it gets more air in and straighter too though, anyone out there have it?? What about the supersucker ram air? ive heard this is alot better. I talked to a guy about this last night at the strip and he said that he would for sure take the MAF screen off and maybe even cut the ERG thing off inside the intake. He only had that and exhaust and was running consistant 8.6x's(1/8th)

I was thinking the ram air could give it closer to a + pressure, plus colder air obviously. BTW, I saw a 'new?' FIPK kit on ebay for I think $390???? And he was saying it was retail like 4__ something? That guy is going to make loot if he gets a bid. Anyone know what hp the FIPK makes compared to a lid+RA?

Get a lid and the Supersucker. My buddy and I got our LS1's at the same time. They were both even with each other. He got the FIPK and I got an SLP lid. After that my car was faster.
I just recently removed my FTRA and installed a Supersucker. I can definitely tell a diffence between the two. You can feel a bigger SOTP feel with the Supersucker and it was much easier to install then the FTRA.

Although that combo is more expensive I guess its worth doing it right the first time.... About descreening the MAF, could anything bad happen? Just seems random they would put a screen there for no reason. And you can just pry it out with a screw driver right? Thanks!!!

Get a lid, do the FTRA, and Port and descreen the MAF!!!! Go to www.installuniversity.com if you need instructions on how to do the MAF porting, or just buy a set of ported MAF ends. I might just buy the darn Z06 one for 150 bucks. Id probably mess something up anyhow. I was looking through those articals, and, do you really need a new IAT sensor if you get a new lid? Thanks

No you don't need a new IAT sensor if you get a lid. Do the FRA mod and then buy one of the ram air kits, ie. Supersucker. Get out your dremel and port your MAF and TB. I've been hearin lots of complaints from people who buy aftermarket MAF's like Granetelli's or SLP's, not much gain in performance.

By doing the FRA mod you mean cutting the box up?

You'll need to cut the lower airbox assembly as well. I did a lot of cutting. I also cut the front of the lower air box assembly in between the two metal clips. Use a dremel for sure.

The stealth airbox assembly is a quality piece. IMO it's the highest flowing airbox you can get.
