IS it possible to make a LS1 sound good?
Has a nice deep old muscle car sound and its not quiet.
I had the offroads in for a couple months but it was too obnoxious for me. Although at WOT it was incredible!

You want a loud, DEEP rumble? Go with the 4" Mufflex exhaust that uses the Flowmaster race muffler. It'll still rasp some with orp's(like any LS1) but it does sound freakin MEAN.
Also, the GMMG Chambered Exhaust has a wonderfully deep "true" muscle car-like sound to it with headers and highflow cats. Heck, it even sounds really TOUGH behind just stock manifolds/cats.

Ok i think i got a idea here.. what if i took out my borla.. put my stock cats back in? it would be a little louder and still deep without the borla right?? and if that aint enough for me then if i built off the stock cats to true duals.. 2 quarter" pipes and drop it before the axle with no mufflers at all?? i would proobly gain some kinda power gettin rid of that squished Y pipe.. plus a bit more noise? i wana be legal with the cats in.. and still want it deep.. i think the cats are what make these cars deep rumble in the first place? cuz borla is only 25% goin thro the muffler with no plate right? so bascily your hearing the cats?? i got a couple tests i wana do..i'll let ya no what sounds good.. thanx again guys
i can't say i'v heard a LS1 with the 4" mufflex..

Go to mufflex's website and they have a sound clip of the 4" flowmaster mufflex.

Both are on LS1 Z28's. Sounds damn good to me.

That was probably the best sounding 4th gen I have ever heard! I loved it. I think he said he had some hooker headers with dual cut outs and borla(bypassed with the cut outs). Of coarse he had a nice size cam and all but it was nice. I member the car ran 12.30's on nittos spinning like hell and it was HOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!

.. but im starting to relize how import like my exhuast sounds like!! i have no cats and open borla.. when rasp hits it sounds soo ricy... but its loud.. thats what i was aiming for with no cats.. but is there a way to have loud and deep exhusat?? .. where can u have the exhuast dump out and be legal.. don't realy wana go over the axle.. (to quiet!) thanx again

Put a bullet muffler on that y-pipe, that should help with that rasp sound. I have the MAC headers with off-road y-pipe, and my exhaust is dumped over the axle, and I LOVE IT
Sounds awesome when you first start the car up, not quiet, but not too load for cruising around town and awesome again at WOT. That is the way I like it.

I have the 1 3/4" Dynatechs, custom y-pipe, and Mufflex 4" with dual outs. I also transplanted the B&B Triflo tips to this package so it looks like plain bad-***. My engine is a 383 and I run no cats and no emissions components at all. It is VERY common for me to stop at a light and have someone look over and tell me my car sounds really great. I don't even have to get anywhere into the throttle. Car just purrs when driving around town and completely roars at WOT.

Yup! Have to second this.
Ingredients to make an LS1 sound like a badass BBC:
1) Extra cubes (like 422 )
2) Good big headers (like stepped Dynatechs)
3) No cats
4) Big fat y-pipe
5) Corsa
6) Good big (but not excessive) cam.
I have been told numbers of times that my car sounds absolutely badass. And being the former owner of a Buick GS displacing 462 CI (0.030 455), I can tell you that this sounds better.
I love setting off the car alarms in the parking garage as I idle tamely by. Kind of fun.
if you run longtubes through cats and a cutout, it sounds really good.
im running a cam, off road pipes and my cutout partly open and the rest going through the dual dual. at idle you can hear the lope, but the dual dual gives a nicer deep underlaying note.

Yep what he said. Cept I've heard it with a Whisper Agressor exhaust and it sounds real nice! You'll get lots of compliments, even from Stang guys
