Default Exhaust

I am thinking about buying a T/A when I sell my truck and I have been researching mods. At first, the true-dual exhaust got my attention, but then I found out about the QTEC cutouts. This got me thinking about going with Hooker headers, QTEC cutouts, and leaving the rest of the exhaust stock.

Because of the Hookers being long tube, this gets rid of the cats, right? If so, would there be room to install cats behind the cutouts? Again, I'm not completely sure of the way the exhaust runs through the car, so if I'm not making sense let me know.

The whole reason I'm thinking about this is because I think it'd be nice to have a semi-quiet exhaust for when you're trying to go unnoticed, and then be able to open the cutouts with the flip of a switch when you want to be heard.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Allright, first off the Hookers only offer a ORY (off road Y-Pipe) they don't sell a Y with cats yet. So if you want hookers and cats you have to go to a exhaust shop and have a custom y pipe made. You will want at least a 3" pipe this means you CANNOT use your factory cats because they are smaller than 3" and you will be making your exhaust more restrictive. You need to buy 3" hi flow cats. Just so you know it is possible to have long tube hookers w/ cats.
If you want a emmissions legal header system go with SLP, or FLP, or TTS, or even TPIS the Grot's, Dynatech's and Hookers are mainly for non emmission cars that are not going to run cats. In the external field on the third page of topics there is a post from a guy that is something like "Grot's custom exhaust you gotta see this" or something like that. He put a bad *** set of Grot headers and then welded cutouts to his headers and put his stock cats back in place. Check out the thread. Learn from other people's poor choices.
