Strange detonation problem, any ideas?? My 99 TA (A4) is detonating really badly in the upper RPMs in 1st and 2nd gears. 2nd is much worse than 1st gear. The detonation starts around 5500RPM. My car is basically stock with minor bolt-ons. It has a catback, lid, free mods, and a Vig. 2800 converter. I am thinking the detonation may have something to do with de-screening the MAF, but I don’t remember for sure. I also have Nitrous, it’s a dry 100 shot. Strangely, it rarely detonates on the bottle.. Of course the first time it did clatter on the bottle, I quit using it. Also, my car seems to run normal temps (around 200-210). Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas?
