Default Fan Temp...need some HELP

When I go in to get a tune what temp should I have my fans sent to?

I was doing some searching and most people recommended to leave the stock t-stat in the car and have the fan turn on temp lowered a bit.

I do a mix of city and highway driving. Probably 60% city 40% highway.
average summer temp around here is about 80 I would say...sometimes it can get real hot though...lower michigan btw.

What temp should I tell them to set it to? and what temp to have them turn off at? 10 degrees below the activation temp? I have no clue here.

thanks guys, Troy

Mine come on at 180* and go off at 170* with a 160* thermostat. I'm not sure if that degree is a good on-off one or not.It seems to work fine for me though. Although it seems like the fan is always running.

thats why I asked...keeping the fans on 24/7 is not good...your engine will never get warm enough to burn off something or other (forgot the exact name) in the engine...which can and will result in sludge in your oil.

well does anyone know a good on/off temp?

I have a 180* thermostat and the fans set to come on at 200*. That seems to work pretty good for me. The fan doesn't run excessively in stop and go traffic and never come on at highway speeds.

I've got a 160 thermostat--IIRC, my first fan comes on at 180 and shuts off at 170, second fan comes on at 190 and shuts off at 180.

you may want to search in the tuning section, you may get a lot more information.
