Default LS1 fan switch -> SES light

This one won't take long:
Being on a cheap side, I followed instruction from ls1.com and made my own manual fan-switch mode: http://www.ls1.com/fanmod.htm

There is a green wire going to fan#1 relay in the engine compartment. I run a wire from that green wire to a non-grounded switch, second wire from the switch goes to the ground.
Looks like it's working - I flip the switch, fans turn on, even with the engine off, don't even need a key in ignition (I expected it only to work with engine on). HOWEVER, after about half-hour of driving SES light came on. With all due respect - but WTF is going on??

Any comment, especially those on how to do correct wiring, are appreciated. Thank you.

I'd check the wires under the hood. Something probably came loose. I haven't had any problems with my set up...

If you don't have a A-tap or some type of OBD II system tester why not take it to your local AutoZone store and see what the code is, you never know it might be something else...you could also just reset the computer and see what happens.

I did my own setup as well with two speeds. The engine light will come on with the high speed fan switch. I have also had the engine light come on with the low speed fan that was on for a while. Have your codes checked because mine brought up 2. A fan relay code, and some weird fuel pressure code that is unrated to the fan, but it only comes on with the fan code. I have A-tap and I just delete the DTCs.

I got the info from Kclarson on CamaroZ28.com. You need to put one 47 ohm 1watt resistor in line with the green wire. And 2 of the parallel on the blue wire.
Here is a diagram TheHeadFL drew up: http://members.telocity.com/~abinns/noses.jpg

Aha!!! Guys, thank you so much. I felt there was a need to put a resistor somewhere, that diagram is great. Those ls1.com files should really be updated. The code did go away today, and then came back. Hopefully resistor will fix it once and for all. I also found a much better location for the switch - I don't smoke, so I mounted it in the ashtray along with led, which indicates if the fan is on, next to it.
