Flo-Tech cutout install at end of Y-pipe
I've read about the "collector mod" on the stock Y-pipe. Is it feasable to cut the bottleneck off the stock Y end & weld the Flo-tech cutout right there? Has anyone tried this? Would seem more sensible than putting it way back under passenger rear seat.....no? Maybe it won't fit there, or will hit there, or will intefere w/driveshaft loop, or whatever... How about a little input on this, boys? Thanks. WJ.
If I was going to re-install a CutOut, I would put it all the way back, just before Axle with a slight down angle to keep some vibration out of the cabin. However, I like my current exhaust so well, I did not bother to re-install a cutout.
I just installed my cut-out with a Qtec power plate in this location and is working out wonderfully. I had my exhaust guy cut the y pipe collector back to a point to match up with the 3" cut-out. I have noticed less backfiring also. As a note the cut was just back of the SLP drive shaft loop brace with the cut-out angled slightly down (about 1.5" from horizontal) on the driver's side, which gave me about an inch clearance for the Qtec motor. I run adjustable shocks pretty stiff set at 7 to eliminate much movement.

Hey i just ordered a electric cutout for my SS. I'm not very familiar with how to install this, so could you guys tell me some important instructions that i might need to inform my exhaust guy. Thanks
Hey, Joe,
The electric part of the cut out is installed on a cut out everyone is familiar with. It bolts on to the cut our where the cap would go. I have yet to install the electric portion but there is a rubber ring on the bottom the of passenger floor board. Cut an X in it and thread the wire through it and up to the center console and install switch where ever you wish. Hope this helps..
