My MAFT encounter questions To make a long story short: I pulled out on the main road leaving my friends house today, I accelerated normal, and I started to hear a slight "PINGING NOISE" so i let off the accelerator. Now IM pissed. I noticed that the car was running @ 215 degrees. Do you think that if I installed a 160 degree t-stat, that it might cure my "PINGING?" Here is were the MAFT comes into play: I came home and installed my MAFT that I had sitting around for 3 months (version 5.?) set it at 5% lean (base) 2% rich (WOT) Went out and test drove it and no "PINGING" What is weird is that making it "LEANER" should make it ping even more. The smell from my car @ idle makes my eyes tear (seriously) its running so rich. Thats why i leaned it out. If i keep leaning it out, will the smell of fuel at idle diminish a little? Please, if there is any reccomendations you could give me, i would appreciate it. I know I need ATAP, but no longer have a laptop. Thanks very much....

Re: My MAFT encounter questions First off, Do not make adjustments without having it scanned first. It's kind of like playing LS1 melted aluminum Russian Roulette. If you have a HPP3 set the fan setting to 180 deg setting and then get the car scanned. If you have the cats removed then it's going to smell. That's just part of the game.
