Radiator Fan Control - Thermostats
mounted thermostat at the outlet side, to hit
the fan when the temps get up to where the
internal coolant thermostat is starting to work.
In Allied Electronics (www.alliedelec.com)
catalog there are some SELCO thermostats
with varying open/close temps that you could
use in place of (or in parallel / series with,
depending on your preference) the switch in
the "fan switch mod". These thermostats run
$10.84 apiece (qty 1). Contact rating is
125V/15A which ought to suffice for the fan
motor, direct drive (I think). For use where
you're just popping a control line (like the
fan switch mod) there's no issue.

If you want to allow for 20F radiator temp
rise (inlet-outlet) then with a 180F coolant thermostat you'd probably want the 160F/130F.
That might make for some excessive fan "on"
time, or not. The hysteresis band is pretty
wide.
I don't know if these are environmentally
sealed or not; they probably ought to be
mounted out of the spray, and might ought
to be painted after attaching the wires and
mounting to the radiator output end tank,
just for luck. I would use something like JB
to mount the body to the tank, a little
Rustoleum black semi-gloss and it would all
just "disappear".
