Default Explain why a bad coolant sensor causes startup/idle issues

I know its broke. Heck it slides right off the sensor in the motor so i can see the 3 prongs. Also im getting 0118 codes from it. Since I have been getting those codes the car HAS LIVING HELL starting and idling. It will idle after like 2 mins of holding the car up around 3k rpms. Also I have to floor the car to get it to even somewhat try to start. Then if i dont hold the gas in a little the motor/car stumbles big time untill it clears the fuel out i guess.

I posted in here and seemed to get a answer that it was a bad CTS(coolant sensor)

Yes mines broke, temp gauge wont work. But its been broke for about 2 weeks(gauage wasnt working). But I never got a SES till now, and when i got the SES the car doesnt want to start anymore.

also, anyone have the part number for a 98?? since the 99+ are different.

I just want a reason why a dang tempo sensor causes start up/idle HELL <img border="0" alt="[fight]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_punch.gif" />

All engines mees a higher idle speed and a richer mixture when cold. That's what the choke did on older cars. I'm sure you're not getting that with the broken sensor. The computer doesn't know that the engine is cold. Why not just replace the sensor???
