Default K&N FIPK and SS Camaro

I've seen a few guys on this site with the K&N FIPK on their SS Camaro's. Is it just me or would that defeat the whole purpose of sealing the airbox to the hood and pull in warm air from the engine compartment?

Ive got it on my car... The stock seal with the hood isnt all that great.. and with the design of the hood wont really create any positive pressure, even at high speeds... I figure with the FIPK, i have more exposed filter area for more air flow, but yet, at above 60+ speeds, the hood scoop still grabs some cold air... Personally, i like it better.. i noticed more top-end power and throttle response.. it could be in my head though. A picture of it is in my sig.. I plan on plumbing a 125 shot into the front of it next month.
