If you dont have the entire CB I would get one. Spliceing a muffler in to the stock cb is a pain in the *** and looks like ****. The stock I pipe is smaller than the 3" inlet to the muffler and the 2 tail pipes are smaller than the exits on the muffler. I did this with a chokemaster and ended up getting a hooker CB a few months later.

Just buy the muffler and then take it to an exhaust shop; they'll assembly a fantastic quality system for you for much less than the cost of a catback, if you already have a muffler and tips.....I have a dual/dual for sale if interested, see my forsale thread if interested, sounds like a good deal to me.

My I pipe was 2 3/4" ...1/4 " doesn't make any difference on a non blown/non cammed car..if $ are low, there is NO reason at all just a muffler isn't worth it.

GOOD ADVICE---cat backs are very overated..all they are is a few feet of larger pipe and the muffler of choice..big waste of 3-5 hundred bucks just so you can say you have a new "CATBACK"..... any decent exhaust shop is much better...

First off.. i'd love to see and exhaust shop do Mandrel bending on Stainless steel tubing and have it fit like the magnaflow kit..

The maganaflow kit fits perfect.. for looks/fitment i dont think i'd get a different one. Now it is a little on the quiet side.. but i guess i can live with that.

Lol thank you, I really appreciate it. Way back when I was working on a custom catback I was going to have a exhaust guy build a custom one, and never got around to it. Now I have another project in the works and I had to get rid of the remaining components however you are for the most part accurate in saying it's a feasible plan.

Exactly. Most shops would charge you out the *** for all the trial-and-error stuff that catback makers go through to get to the end result. All the measuring, bending (which likely won't be mandrel bent at a shop, as mentioned above), cutting, welding, etc. I'll just spend the money and get a catback that I know is quality and will fit and work well.

i have NEVER understood why people buy an entire catback if the same company offers a muffler. i welded the magnaflow into my ws6 piping and its great, great sound, great looking quality, no problems at all. it cost me 125$ for the muffler and 50$ to weld it in, and i basically have a magnaflow catback, but to each his own, i understand now wanting to hack up your factory exhaust, but my money i feel was very well spent
