Default Which is more practical when considering space limitations Y or True Duals?

I called up some muffler shops and they all say there isnt alot of room under the camaro to run mufflers in front of the rear axle and have it dump the exhaust out the side.

Is there room to run one 3 1/2 " tubing over the rear axle on the passengerside with a stock height car? That way I could run the muffler in the back of the car where there is more room. The people at the muffler shop make a big deal about making a custom exhaust being a pita.

What do you guys recommend for a simple set up that flows good and sounds decent.

Unless the exhaust shop is competent you are going to end up with a crush-bent exhaust that will not flow well at all. I would suggest just getting a cat-back if this is the case.

dug,
You oughta take a look at what some folks call a "dyno-mouth". Its basically an SLP Loudmouth with the resonator (mounted in the I-pipe) replaced with a Dynomax bullet muffler. Quieter than a LM by itself, lightweight, cheap, stainless steel (the LM anyway), very free-flowing, and no crossflow muffler.

My stock I-pipe already has a crush spot
in the axle arch, because things are so
tight. I'm guessing it's factory....

I know some people think it's retro-ghetto,
but I think the situation calls for old
'70's-Vette-style side pipes. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Yeah

Its hard to find a shop that mandrel bend the tubes. So far I have found two, one shop can do 2.5" tubes and the other 3". Im trying to find a shop that can mandrel bend 3.5" tubes so I can make a better flowing stock style exhaust using a flowmaster collector that exits at the rear bumper. I think that would be quietist inside the car.

The cat backs seem kinda cheesy and expensive. The crossflow muffler sucks. A single 3.5" muffler straight through muffler like an ultraflow would be better. The Mufflex catback looks interesting. Does it have a 3.5" pipe over the axle?

The ghetto side pipe idea is too much. Im not worried about looks but I always hated the way side pipes look. Having the exhaust come out the side cobra style would be ok.

go to ls1speed.com and look at the options. there the cheapest ive found too. i went with the 4" dual with spin tech muffler (don't get a flowmaster) and got the whole setup jet coated. Just dont plan on lowering your car a lot.

I spent a couple hours doing a search on the mufflex cat back. Long story short it flows good but is loud and heavy. Kind of expensive too. Its a killer set though. One 4" pipe should flow as well as a pair of 2.81" pipes in terms of area.

Long tubes with a 3" to 4" flowmaster collector into a mufflex with a ultraflow muffler would be sweet. It would have decent ground clearance and exits in back of the car. From the search supposedly side exhaust with cars with back seats is illegal in some states. Mufflex would be good for that.

I cant afford that set up. Ive been reading up on cut outs and they look like cheap hp. I think a cut out with a good y pipe would make noticable hp. With some cheap headers like mac and and offroad pipe there could be almost 40hp to be had while still being quiet when necessary and stealthy.
