Default Straight scoop on MSD ignitions for LS1

I saw a post the other day about someone seeing a MSD ignition system and was told it was for the LS1. I just got off the phone with MSD and to this day THERE IS NO INGITION SYSTEM AVAILABLE FOR THE LS1. The system that the person saw will only work on Mustangs. MSD said that to make a system for the LS1 they have to build an entire new coil that separates the ignitor from the coil, requiring 8 seperate systems. and becuase of cost effectiveness they havent done one. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. MSD said that they have started the R&D on a system for the LS1. No ETA yet on when we might see it though.

I can assure you that the MSD for the LS-1 will also be very expensive. If they're just starting the R&D on it, the package won't be available any time soon, and R&D is never cheap.

Still, if/when it comes out, it'll be interesting to see what kind of gains we can see. In the meantime, I am extremely satisfied w/the way GM did their homework on the LS-1 ignition. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

The stock system is very good. why change it?

Wires are good, everything.
